Super food smoothie

Do you ever get lots of fruit or veg and not manage to use them up? Well, I have and it winds me up. I recently bought some Mango and blueberries, so I thought, to make sure that I got to use them up I made a smoothie. I added mango (with the peel still on), blueberries, spinach and lime juice. It was delicious and even though in the media people have jumped on the band wagon with the amount of sugar that is in some fruit, fruit is still very healthy for you and has plenty of nutritional value. For example, blueberries have a low glycemic index and plenty of antioxidants; these are very beneficial to the brain and nervous system, furthermore, antioxidants found in mango and blueberries are believed to prevent against cancer cells forming. Lastly, the spinach is found to be not only high in phytonutrients and antioxidants but also vitamin C; this helps your immune system, oxidative stress, cardiovascular problems, high blood pressure and strengthening your bones.
Stay healthy! X
